Fischbacher 1819: Nomadic Journeys Collection
It has been said that we were all once nomads, closely connected to nature and continuously changing location according to the needs of the seasons. Thus, the nomads’ lifestyles and their sense of aesthetics still hold a fascination and attraction for us.
Fischbacher 1819’s Nomadic Journey’s collection was inspired by creative director Camilla Fischbacher’s Iranian heritage and extensive travels. These deeply textural designs are rendered in natural colours which reflect the mosses, lichens, rock formations and grasses found in foreign landscapes.

Nomadic Journeys embraces the unique characteristics of natural fibres including raw silk, yak wool, and hemp in both fabrics and throws.
Jinpa is crafted from a hand-woven and hand-spun raw silk blend. Combining naturalness and elegance, Jinpa has an irregular structure that is characteristic of raw silk. The voluminous two-coloured weft yarn is barely concealed by the delicate warp, and forms the background for the graphic crewel embroidery and soutage technique used to realise the Jinpa Diamond design. Jinpa is the base cloth for a second Fischbacher 1819 embroidered drapery, Peony.
Tibbu is a double-width, transparent drapey fabric constructed from 100% hemp. Hemp fibres are particularly sustainable as the plants require very little water, grow without the use of pesticides or herbicides, and absorb large amounts of CO2 during their growth. Hemp fibres are known for their robustness and durability, which makes the textiles more resistant to wear and tear. In addition, hemp offers natural UV protection and resistance to mould and bacterial growth.

Tramontana II is an Oeko-Tex certified, double-width drapery fabric. The linen warp is single-coloured and the wool blend in the weft is melange; this effect is created by dyeing the wool in several shades and twisting them together to ensure that the melange is the same for every production.
The Nomad Yak throws are soft, supple, and made from pure yak wool. The three shades on offer are the undyed colours occurring naturally in yak wool. Yak fibres are obtained from the undercoat of the yak, a cattle species native to the Himalayan region and Tibet, which are especially warm, breathable, and moisture-regulating.

Fischbacher 1819 continue to forge a sustainable path in environmentally conscious textiles by extending the BENU Recycled range of textiles, made from discarded post-consumer materials such as PET bottles and wool.
Three fire retardant, wide-width draperies join the range. BENU Sky Recycled FR is a 100% recycled polyester sheer with a slightly grainy, matt texture, and BENU Earth Recycled FR is natural looking, semi-transparent fabric with a very soft hand and open plain weave. BENU Sand Recycled FR is a softly draping, dense, wide-width curtain fabric with a wavy and soft texture. With yarns obtained from post-consumer PET bottles, its slightly mottled ondé yarns give it a woolly character.

BENU Earth Recycled FR
BENU Mountain Recycled is a particularly soft drapery and upholstery fabric. The lively surface is created by using a woollen ondé yarn with an exceptionally fluffy chenille yarn to create visual contrast against the contrasting colours of the coarse linen warp. All the yarns used are made from recycled materials.
At Christian Fischbacher, the concepts of sustainability and social responsibility are not just a trend, but a way of life, creating products that are made to last through are carefully monitored production processes. The brand maintains supplier partnerships spanning decades and new suppliers are carefully vetted to ensure that they live up to their high ethical and quality standards.

“Our Nomadic Journeys collection reflects the aesthetics of this lifestyle: a carefully curated colour palette of natural hues, yak wool, hemp, and other natural fibres, creates a textural landscape that is both refined and authentic. Offering a contemporary interpretation of nomadic cultures, which honours their timeless textiles heritage and at the same time allows us a glimpse into a sustainable future of textile design.”
