The out-of-focus contours of this classic design give Pompadour its contemporary edge. Woven on a silk warp with a linen weft, the satin construction increases the natural shimmer of the silk. Unlike other silks, Pompadour is first washed in cold water, then tumble-dried and finally treated with hot steam. This puckers the fabric slightly giving it a three-dimensional surface and the soft touch. Pompadour is woven by Italian weavers working mostly with fashion fabrics.
