In 2014, Entrecôte made its debut in South Yarra and quickly became the go-to location for those seeking old world Parisian charm and traditional French cuisine. Following exceptional popularity, it relocated to Prahran in 2021, settling into the expansive Greville Street premises and fully embracing its reputation for culinary excellence.

Designed by Brahman Perera in collaboration with restaurant owner and partner James Jones, the venue is the perfect balance of sophistication and surprising accents, finished with gentle lantern lights, and lush materials.

On approach, you are instantly transported to a traditional French restaurant. Elongated, al fresco timber windows cover the entire front while a scalloped blue striped awning shades the entrance. Guests sit on meticulously aligned French café furniture on the footpath, enjoying casual dining and people watching. As you enter, you are greeted with a decorative mosaic-tiled floor and staff dressed in crisp black and white emerge instantly to usher you up the stairs to your table. In the main dining space, a sense of luxury and antiquity collide. Lush velvet banquettes, wicker and velvet cushioned dining chairs fill the space, while corniced wainscot wall panels, tasselled stools, candelabras, chandeliers, and drapery partitions elevate the aesthetic. As you move through the space there are also accents of antique oak, royal blue, amber and coloured glass. While we may be biased, the banquettes and dining chairs take centre stage, all upholstered in our signature design Lux Velvet in colourways Blue and Gold.

Taking inspiration from Parisian institutions such as Hôtel Costes and Ralph’s, the restaurant has various dining experiences across the brasserie, dining rooms, and courtyard. For small groups and couples, the dining room banquettes add intimacy and supreme comfort enhanced by Lux’s textured pile and rich shading.

Designed by Brahman Perera in collaboration with restaurant owner and partner James Jones, the venue is the perfect balance of sophistication and surprising accents, finished with gentle lantern lights, and lush materials. Nestling into your velvet seat with a freshly shaken cocktail awaiting your steak frites, you may also enjoy added ambiance from a musician playing the grand piano.

Perera and James have achieved an impressive level of intimacy in this expansive venue through considered interior design. What’s even more commendable is that they have given equal care and attention to the fundamentals: food, service, and wine list. Bon appétit!
